Privacy notice
How we look after the information you give us.
What we collect
To give you safe dental care we keep records of your contact details, medical history, dental treatment, X-rays and photographs, NHS payment and exemption information, and any correspondence with you.
Why we use it
We use your information to provide your care, to claim payment and report activity to the NHS as our contract requires, to contact you about appointments, and to meet our legal and professional duties. Our lawful basis is the provision of health care (UK GDPR Articles 6(1)(e) and 9(2)(h)).
Who we share it with
Only where needed: NHS Business Services Authority for payment and exemption checks, other health professionals involved in your care such as your GP or a hospital you're referred to, dental laboratories making your appliances, and regulators where the law requires it. We never sell your information or use it for marketing.
How long we keep it
We keep dental records for the periods set out in NHS records management guidance, then destroy them securely.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your records, ask us to correct anything that's wrong, and object to some uses of your data. Contact the Practice Manager at hello@nhsmiles.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
